Primary Taster Days

If you are thinking about a career in teaching, and joining the Teach SouthEast team, then please come along to one of our taster days.

These are hosted in one of our outstanding partnership schools and aim to give a 'day in a life' of a primary teacher. You will get to observe lessons across the key stages, have a tour of the school, as well as a talk on who Teach SouthEast are, what we provide and how to teach a good interview lesson.

Please see below for the dates and locations of our up and coming events. If you are interested, please email c.brown@sjb.surrey.sch.uk to book. If you are ready to apply for one of our courses through UCAS, please see the ‘How to apply’ tab on our homepage.

Taster Days

Prior to the escalation of the coronavirus, we were offering Taster Days with the following elements:

  • A presentation covering the different routes into Initial Teacher Training (ITT), what Teach SouthEast offers and how we differ from other providers followed by a question and answer session
  • A presentation on how to prepare for an interview lesson
  • A tour of the school where you will be taken into classrooms to see lessons underway. For many people this is the first time they have been in a classroom since they left school and is a good starting point to see if teaching is the right career
  • The chance to observe 2 lessons (which will be very valuable both when completing your UCAS application and for preparing for interview).

Clearly now that schools are closed, these Taster Days can no longer go forward in their current format. However, we have uploaded narrated versions of the 2 presentations on our Teach SouthEast Facebook group. If you would like to access these presentations and marketing flyers, please follow the link provided and follow the instructions to join the Teach SouthEast private Facebook group. If you have any questions afterwards, please feel free to email Claire Brown on c.brown@sjb.surrey.sch.uk (with particular regard to secondary school ITT) or Sam Robinson on s.robinson@sjb.surrey.sch.uk with regard to primary ITT.

These presentations are available to view immediately.

Alternatively, if you email Claire Brown on c.brown@sjb.surrey.sch.uk you will be sent a link to watch these in YouTube.
