Our partnership with University of Sussex

We are delighted to have a long term partnership with University of Sussex with whom we work to deliver the PGCE programme. Most trainees on the Non-Salaried and Core SCITT training routes choose to work towards a PGCE in Pedagogy and Practice over the course of the year. This is an academic qualification which supplements and enhances your SCITT-based training for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Whilst not compulsory, we have worked hard with Sussex to ensure that the assignments are manageable and compliment your training. It carries 60 Master level credits, one third of a MA, which can be built upon following graduation to achieve the full Masters’ qualification.

Further information about the breakdown of modules and assignments will be provided at the Teach SouthEast Induction.

The PGCE (PP) is assessed through the following modules:

Mode of Assessment

Professional classroom practice assessed by Teach SouthEast.

Coursework essay evaluating impact of pedagogy on professional practice (6000 words).

Portfolio of Evidence (mapping progression in Teachers’ Standards & core content framework) and explored at an end of assessment exit interview (professional conversation).

Professional practice profile from your training provider assessing the quality of teaching and professionalism over second part of the academic year.
